Windows of businesses in the city centre are showcasing a Coventry2021 production “The Show Windows”, is a selection of retail windows showcasing Art throughout the centre of the City. In collaboration with Coventry City of Culture Trust; Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), West Midlands born ITV Creates curator, Charlie Levine; Historic Coventry; Arts Council and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The first piece to be installed is “Cov as Oz” by Illustrator Ben Javen inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.” Which has already been installed in the window at the Transport Museum. This is to be installed in 5 other windows across the city at Esquires Coffee House, The Coventry Bank, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Radio & Student Central.
Ben is very please to be part of the Coventry’s City of culture and if you happen to be in Coventry, you might spot his work in a number of windows dotted around the city.
There is going to be further work displayed within City Arcade and The Burges creating boulevards of wonder. Theses will feature national arts and craft collections.

This project follows on from the success of the RIBA Regents Street project in 2018. They ran an open call and the final four were selected. these are Genler Europe, Intervention Architecture, Ella & Abby Clark Design and One Creative Environments to create captivating installations in windows.
