Cofa tree

At One with Cofa ‘s Tree By Matt Chu, a local artist was commissioned to create a piece of art to draw people through from Broadgate, the city Centre, to the cathedral quarter. He says “This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging artist and I feel especially proud that my first piece of mural art will be on display in my hometown. On this commission, I have been lucky enough to have had the support of Coventry City Council and Creative Giants, who have helped to ensure that my artistic vision can be fully realised.“

The piece, entitled “At One with Cofa ‘s Tree,” brings together elements of Coventry’s mythic past, tangible present, and imagined future in a dreamlike composition where disparate realities intersect and inspiration is born.

My first piece of mural art will be on display in my hometown.

Matt Chu, Artist

Matt was born in Coventry and has been involved in the local arts scene much of his adult life. Seeing this part of the city’s culture recognised and celebrated now on such a scale is a proud moment for him and, is sure, all creatives in the city. This is an extremely promising time for local people practicing all kinds of disciplines, with lots of exciting creative opportunities opening up in the run up to 2021. Matt feels very strongly that City of Culture will inspire more people to take part and contribute to Coventry’s already vibrant creative scene.
